Outreach
Center
516.374.3190
Now
that the doors of Hewlett House are open, people coping with cancer have
a warm, comfortable place to come to obtain valuable information and resources.
In our Outreach Center, we can provide reliable, current information on
treatment options as well as connecting people with the resources for
the emotional & psychosocial support they may need.
We
can do this in one place - our home, Hewlett House.
The Outreach Center is located on the 2nd floor of Hewlett House, and
can provide breast prostheses, mastectomy bras, and wigs & other headcovering
options for those who are un-insured or under-insured to help them deal
with the physical side effects of cancer treatment.
In addition, we have a full assortment of educational materials including
booklets, videos and brochures from a variety of organizations for anyone
to use when gathering additional information about early detection, diagnosis
and treatment.
There
are several workshops planned for the coming months, including information
about the cancer registry, insurance issues, hypno-therapy, guided imagery
and pain management. These workshops, and all of our services, are provided
free of charge, and no one will be turned away. We welcome your suggestions
for future topics of interest and we invite you to join us!
Our staff and volunteers, many of whom are breast cancer survivors themselves,
are waiting to help anyone who needs assistance. Walk-ins are always welcome!
1 in 9 / Hewlett House is also working with the Nassau/Suffolk Law Services
for legal issues.
