Social Events

Social Events are determined by the needs and interests of the community and organized collaboratively by members, staff, and volunteers.

Support will be available individually and through groups led by trained facilitators to meet the needs of members, family and friends. Typically, women are higher users of support services than are men. We hope to create an atmosphere that will make everyone feel comfortable and take advantage of our support.

Some of our social events include:

Community dinners, nutrition presentations, luncheons, “pot luck” suppers and cooking healthy.

Yoga, tai chi, relaxation, creative visualization, dance, meditation, creative writing classes, artwork (sculpting, painting, pottery).

Presentations by the 1 in 9 Medical Advisory board with up-to-the-minute treatments and surgical techniques.

Examining Breast Cancer accessories – wigs, prostheses, bras, etc.

Hair, makeup, fashion & beauty demonstrations.

Regularly scheduled programs will not be the only focus of Hewlett House activities. Emphasis will be placed on equally informative activities such as networking, just “dropping in” and simply providing a warm, comfortable place to just “be.”
